Voices Over Silence is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and empowering our community through various programs and initiatives. Our mission is to make a positive impact and create a better future for all. We plan to add more contact resources soon. Also, there will be a video upload link to share your story without facial display and voice distortion. We truly want your voice to be heard but your privacy to be respected.

1. Purpose of This Policy

The purpose of this Content Moderation & Safety Policy is to ensure that Voices Over Silenceprovides a safe, respectful, and trauma‑informed online environment where survivors can share their stories and access resources without fear of harm, harassment, or exposure.

Our platform exists to uplift survivor voices, promote healing, and connect individuals with life‑saving support. To protect our community, all content is moderated with safety, compassion, and confidentiality as our highest priorities.

2. Guiding Principles

Our moderation practices are grounded in:

Safety

We prioritize the physical and emotional safety of survivors above all else.

Confidentiality

We protect the identities of survivors and do not allow identifying information.

Trauma‑Informed Care

We approach every story with empathy, respect, and sensitivity.

Non‑Judgment

We honor each survivor’s experience without blame or criticism.

Accuracy & Integrity

We ensure that all shared resources are reputable, current, and safe.

3. Moderation Process

All content submitted to the platform undergoes review by trained moderators before publication.

Moderators will:

  • Review each submission for safety,      appropriateness, and anonymity
  • Remove or edit identifying details (names,      locations, workplaces, etc.)
  • Add trigger warnings when appropriate
  • Ensure the story aligns with our mission and      community guidelines
  • Reject content that violates safety standards

Moderators will NOT:

  • Judge or invalidate a survivor’s experience
  • Provide legal, medical, or therapeutic advice
  • Publish content that could endanger the survivor      or others

4. Story Submission Requirements

To protect survivors, all submissions must follow these rules:

Prohibited Information

Survivors must NOT include:

  • Full names (their own or others’)
  • Addresses or specific locations
  • Workplace names
  • Contact information
  • Social media handles
  • Photos or videos
  • Details that could identify an abuser

Content That Will Be Removed or Edited

  • Graphic descriptions of violence
  • Threats or incitement
  • Hate speech or harassment
  • False or misleading claims
  • Content that appears to be written by an abuser
  • Content that promotes self‑harm or harm to others

Consent Requirement

All submissions must include the following consent statement:

“I understand that my story may be published publicly on this website. I confirm that I am submitting this story voluntarily and that all identifying details have been removed.”

5. Safety Protocols

Quick Exit Button

A visible “Quick Exit” button will allow users to leave the site immediately.

Crisis Support Notices

Pages containing sensitive content will include:

  • Crisis hotline information
  • Safety planning reminders
  • A disclaimer that we do not provide professional      advice

Mandatory Anonymity

No user accounts, profiles, or public comments will be allowed.

No Direct Messaging

To protect survivors, we do not allow:

  • Private messaging
  • Chat rooms
  • User‑to‑user communication

6. Resource Verification

All resources listed on the site must be:

  • Reputable
  • Up‑to‑date
  • Trauma‑informed
  • Free or low‑cost
  • Non‑discriminatory

The Resource Verification Committee will review resources at least twice per year.

7. Reporting & Removal

Users may report content that appears unsafe or inappropriate.

We will remove content that:

  • Violates this policy
  • Endangers a survivor
  • Contains identifying information
  • Promotes violence or abuse
  • Is spam, fraudulent, or misleading

Moderators may remove content without notice if safety is at risk.

8. Disclaimer

  • Legal advice
  • Medical advice
  • Mental health counseling
  • Emergency services

If someone is in immediate danger, they should contact emergency services or a crisis hotline.

9. Policy Review

This policy will be reviewed annually by the Board of Directors and updated as needed to ensure the highest standards of safety and care.

10. Acknowledgment

All moderators, board members, and volunteers must sign an acknowledgment confirming they have read, understand, and agree to follow this policy.
